"Ha! Those fools run around worrying about their silly little lives, while I live in pure comfort." Shadow sneered, running his fingers through his personal fortune, laughing. He was a ronin, and the lowest of them all. But, he was the best, and people paid him to do...business with other people. Two muffled thuds came from the dingy door. "Well, who do we have here?" he murmured as he opened the door. "What do you want? A cup of rice?" Shadow growled to the broad-shouldered stranger.
"No, I want a small yellow ribbon." came the agreed answer.
The bearded man thought for a minute, then nodded,"Very well. I will pay you 500,000,000 yen. However, I need him killed tomorrow, or no payment at all." Shadow grinned maliciously,"Of course. But if you don't pay me in time, I shall be forced to reveal the body on your
lawn...with a sign."
"Good. Nice meeting you." The stranger bowed and left.
"All right, now," Shadow mumbled as he strapped on his weapons and supplies on his black suit,"let's see what things I will be facing today."
Shadow Fist hid and twisted all the way to the company. With hawk's eyes, he carefully took note of the guards, entrances, exits, and weapons.
Ah-ha! An unguarded window, just behind an arch.
He slipped silently into a smooth roll across the grounds, the path and distance calculated to pass the patrolling guards. Under the arch, he unfolded his body and stood up, observing the happenings inside the window.
"No, no, no! Not that one, THAT one you imbecile. Yes, that one. Why did I even hire you!" a tall man barked at a poor worker.
"Ha! You might be head of this operation now, but what about....say, an hour later?" laughed Shadow, master assassin.
The man, oblivious to the dark figure crouching at the window, strode away into a small comfortable office.
Shadow laughed to himself, a mirthless laugh,"This is almost too easy!" He silently unsheathed his katanas and began creeping toward the office.
Hisao Yamagata sat down on his posh SWIVELLY =D chair, two fingers gently massaging his temples,"Ugh! Stupid workers are so slow! Sometimes I wish I was dead!"
A minute and twenty-three seconds later, his wish was granted. No one saw a shadowy figure drag away a limp body from the scene.
"Now, let's see if my payer keeps up his end of the bargain." smiled Shadow as he hid the body in his little house.
Meanwhile, the man who had hired Shadow chuckled to himself,"Pay 500,000,000 yen for Hisao Yamagata? What a fool! However...that body may make a dent in my lawn...and reputation...especially with that sign.Shall I pay?"
Shadow, on the other hand, had made up his mind. Crouching silently outside the front door, Shadow waited patiently for his victim to wander into the trap.
The man walked to the kitchen. Shadow waited.
The man stooped down, then straightened out again. Shadow slowly took out his shurikens.
The man walked to the front hall. Shadow tensed.
The man opened the front door and stepped out. Shadow threw a shuriken.
A shot rang out. Blood spilled on the grass, and a body fell.
Then Garfield walked by and ate the Girl Scout cookies.
"Well then, what are you standing on my doorstep for? Get in!" Shadow smiled at the prospect of another job and more money. The stranger surveyed the small house and grinned, his hand clutching a large, ragged bag. They sat down at a low table
"Now, who is it?" Shadow asked.
"A certain enemy of mine in the stock market. Hisao Yamagata, head of my rival company." The stranger informed him, sliding a picture across the old table.
"Hhhmmm...how much?" Shadow demanded.
"I am willing to pay you 100,000,000 yen for the death of the man."
Shadow laughed, a cold, cruel laugh,"You must be joking. I demand 500,000,000 yen for this job."
The man protested,"What!? That is too much. I can simply go to another assassin and give him the job. I don't have to give you that much money!"
Shadow grabbed the man's shirt,"Yes, but I am the best. You go to another ronin and see if he succeeds. If he doesn't, don't come back to me, because I do not tolerate testers. I take in believers."
The bearded man thought for a minute, then nodded,"Very well. I will pay you 500,000,000 yen. However, I need him killed tomorrow, or no payment at all." Shadow grinned maliciously,"Of course. But if you don't pay me in time, I shall be forced to reveal the body on your
